Hello from the Arthur Murray studio! We’ve had so much fun celebrating festival, and enjoying visits from our professional coaches coming to both studio locations. We hear a lot of questions all the time, and love taking time to answer them. One we’ve been hearing recently (especially with Cancun Showcase & Dance-O-Rama coming up) is what is the difference between competitive American Rhythm and International Latin Ballroom? So we made a little chart for all of you to check out!
In each dance style, couples generally begin at the bronze syllabus level and work their way up through silver and gold. Each syllabus level has a list of clearly defined dance steps, or figures. Couples competing in a given syllabus are not allowed to perform figures of a higher proficiency level, although couples competing in silver or gold usually include certain bronze figures in their routines. We hope this helps answer your questions & look forward to answering more!
